By The Lion's Part
Lilies on the Land is a play based on over 150 real-life letters and interviews with original members of the Women's Land Army. It chronicles the personal journeys of four diverse women who leave their homes during World War II to do backbreaking farm work, facing the physical hardships and camaraderie of the Home Front.
The play, devised by the theater company The Lions Part, interweaves songs and historical anecdotes from the period to tell the story of the "Forgotten Army" of women who kept Britain from starving.
