This hilarious comedy is the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite and amateur lyric soprano who was mocked by her critics as the worst singer in the world, but admired and adored by many others. At the age of 76 she gave her only public performance at Carnegie Hall in October 1944, a month before her death. Based on a Florence’s charity recitals, bizarre recording sessions and her ultimate triumph at Carnegie Hall, it’s a funny and heart-warming play. The film Florence Foster Jenkins, starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, was released in 2016.
